FOLSOM — One person has died after a head-on collision on Scott Road in Folsom.

Folsom Police said the crash happened at 5 a.m. on Scott Road, just a  half-mile south of the Highway 50 exit.

“There were three vehicles involved. One subject was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Detective Donald Rowberry of the Folsom Police department said.

A blue sedan was heading northbound. A black truck and another vehicle were going south.

Folsom police said for some reason, the driver of the blue sedan crossed the center line, clipped the third car, then moments later, smashed straight into the black truck. Then the blue sedan crashed into the ditch.

The driver of the blue sedan died. The driver has been identified as 19-year-old Palma Donovan of Elk Grove.

The driver of the truck went to the hospital for moderate injuries. The person behind the wheel of the third car, was able to drive away, with no injuries.

Folsom Police Department’s Major Accident Reconstruction Team stayed on scene for hours, using their 3D remodeling equipment, trying to figure out how this deadly crash transpired.

“It doesn’t appear to be any alcohol or drugs involved. And Officers are out there, trying to determine the cause, whether it is distracted driving or possibly falling asleep,” Det. Rowberry said.

Scott Road reopened by Thursday afternoon.
