Pedestrian Amanda L. Nicholas, 29, was pronounced dead on the scene after being struck by two vehicles Saturday night.

A 29-year-old woman that was struck by two vehicles was pronounced dead on the scene late Saturday night in the 5300 block of S.W. Topeka Blvd.

The incident was reported at 10:15 p.m. Saturday.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office determined that Amanda L. Nicholas was struck by two vehicles traveling northbound. One vehicle was a green 1999 Ford Explorer being driven by a 38-year-old male with three teenage passengers. The second vehicle was a white 2003 Ford Escape being driven by a 21-year-old male with no passengers. None of the occupants of the vehicles were injured, said sheriff’s Sgt. Harry Louderback.

The accident occurred at a time of heavy rainfall and decreased visibility, Louderback said. There were no signs of impairment by the drivers of the vehicles. Police are still investigating why Nicholas was in the roadway, but there does not appear to be any suspicious or criminal circumstances surrounding why she was in the road, Louderback said.
