SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — More information may be released Tuesday afternoon about the stabbing death of Mary Shisler in her eastern Greene County home Friday, October 21.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department has scheduled a news conference at 1:15 p.m. to discuss the case.  Watch a livestream of the press conference here.

Law officers found her body at her home in the 8300 block of N. Farm Road 223 after a neighbor spotted an unfamiliar vehicle in Shisler’s driveway.
A neighbor alerted deputies that the back door was open and that the home had been ransacked.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper later found Shisler’s vehicle after the vehicle pulled into a driveway of a home whose homeowner called 911 reporting the suspicious behavior.

A 16-year-old male, of Republic, was then taken into custody. He was charged in juvenile court with murder, attempted arson, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse, along with several other charges.  A hearing is underway in the Greene County Juvenile Court Division today (Oct. 25), to determine whether to certify him to stand trial on adult charges.
