SACRAMENTO — Investigators say the same man is responsible for sexually assaulting two young women within the past nine days.
Both assaults happened on Wyda Way near Howe Avenue in Sacramento.
The most recent incident was Tuesday, when a 21-year-old woman was walking with her two young siblings.
“The suspect approached her, started to make conversation with her, and then at one point, grabbed her and began to sexually assault her over her clothing,” Sacramento County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Turnbull said.
The young woman was able to get away — running to a nearby business for help.
“After interviewing her, it appears that her description of the suspect is very consistent with the suspect a week ago. She made mention of the fact that she had seen that release from the sexual assault a week prior and believes it to be the same person,” Turnbull said.
The suspect is described as black, between 24 and 34 years old, 5-feet-8-inches tall and skinny.
Last week, investigators say, a 15-year-old girl was walking to school when the same man confronted her and asked how old she was.
Detective said she told him she was only 13, but the man grabbed and groped her.
Fortunately she was able to hit him and escape.
Turnbull says extra patrols have been assigned to the area.
“For it to happen in the same area within a block of each other, you would suspect that probably he lives there. If he is a transient, then it’s a place he frequents often,” he said.
Investigators want to catch this guy before his assaults turn into something far worse.
“His determination to try to do more to these women could escalate,” Turnbull added.
