Shinola, the Detroit-based manufacturer best known for luxury watches, leather goods and high-end bicycles, announced the Runwell turntable in October 2016 — and it’s now for sale. The turntable is the flagship product for the company’s new audio initiative, aptly named Shinola Audio. The Runwell is a joint effort between the Shinola Audio team — helmed by Audeze founder Alex Rosson — and VPI Industries, an American veteran of turntable manufacturing.
The Runwell is a two-speed (33 1/3 rpm and 45 rpm), belt-driven turntable with an integrated phono preamplifier and is equipped with an Ortofon 2M blue phono cartridge. There initial run is limited to 500-pieces, so act quickly. The Runwell is available in Shinola stores, online and at select domestic retailers. The turntable comes in two colors: natural (tan) and a special all-black edition.
