An Elk Grove probationer is in custody at the Sacramento County Jail after being apprehended for an outstanding warrant, resisting arrest and threatening police officers.

On the morning of October 26, Elk Grove Police officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Dinwiddie Way in the Laguna West neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers contacted 48-year old Richard Kirby (pictured above) and discovered he was on probation and had active arrest warrants from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department.

When officers attempted to arrest Kirby, he resisted the officer’s efforts and a brief struggle ensued. Kirby was eventually taken into custody and placed into a police vehicle where he then made threats.

Kirby is being held on the El Dorado County charges as well as misdemeanor trespassing and felony charges of resisting arrest and violation of probation. Bail is set at $40,000 and arraignment is scheduled for Friday, October 28.
