Elk Grove City Council to Consider Rezone For Apartments

November 4, 2016 |

At their next meeting on Wednesday, November 9, the Elk Grove City Council will consider rezoning 15-acres to accommodate apartment construction.

The parcel is part of the so-called Sheldon Farms 145-acre undeveloped tract located on the southwest corner of Sheldon Road and Lewis Stein Road. The entire parcel is bound by Sheldon Road on the north, Big Horn Boulevard on the south, Bruceville Road on the west and Lewis Stein Road on the east.

According to the staff report for the rezone, "This Project will amend the land use and zoning of 15-acres to high-density residential both north and south of Laguna Creek on three individual sites, ranging in size from 3 to 6+ acres. No specific development activity is proposed as part of this land use change, and subsequent master planning and parcel mapping would be required prior to development."

The Elk Grove Planning Commission unanimously approved the rezone at their October 20, 2016, meeting. Next Wednesday's meeting starts at 6 p.m at City Hall at which time the City Council is expected to approve the request.
