STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. • The skeletal remains found here Tuesday have been confirmed as those of Lynn Messer, the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Messer disappeared in July 2014 from the home she shared with her husband, Kerry Messer, a prominent Missouri lobbyist.
Lynn Messer was 52 when she was reported missing from the 250-acre family farm near Bloomsdale. The remains were found on the edge of the farm.
The Sheriff’s Office said the identification was made by the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office. No cause of death was mentioned. Officials said earlier that it could take weeks to make that determination.

The investigation into Messer’s death has been turned over to the FBI.
