APS to showcase at world’s greatest meeting of Superyachts

MYS stand number QH22 - next to Monaco Yacht Club

Asia Pacific Superyachts will be returning with new information to share at the ultimate luxury rendezvous for the international elite clientele at the Monaco Yacht Show September 27-30.

Each year, the MYS curates the exhibition of 125+ extraordinary one-off superyachts built by the world’s most respected shipyards and welcomes over 590 leading companies from the yachting industry.

In attendance at the APS Stand QH22/Quai De L’Hirondelle (next to the Monaco Yacht Club) will be owner-agents representing top rated yachting destinations throughout Asia and the Pacific who will provide superyacht owners, captains, managers and other industry professionals interested with the latest information and cruising updates of these enthralling destinations.

In discussing why APS is so enthusiastic in returning to MYS, Gordon Fernandes of APS Phuket and Myanmar explains, “It is important to us to have an opportunity to meet face-to-face with our past and future clients so we can help provide answers to owners and captains directly about cruising destinations and new regulations”.  Agents are looking forward to meeting up with many of their past clients as well as others interested in the Asia Pacific area.

"Agents at our APS Stand will offer custom itineraries uniquely crafted from the APS network of superyacht experts", continued Fernandes:  "There are exciting new changes coming up for superyachts interesting in returning or those new to cruising the Asia and Pacific areas. We’ll be at MYS in force to share our new information and knowledge with our past and future clients."

Information at the APS Stand will showcase the most thrilling and least visited spots on the planet with APS agents ready to point out some of their secret anchorages, gorgeous cruising waters and new cultural activities over cold refreshments.

Myanmar hails UNESCO status for Indawgyi Lake

For those interested in cruising Myanmar, UNESCO has designated Indawgyi Lake in Kachin State—the largest freshwater lake in the country and the third largest in Southeast Asia—as a Biosphere Reserve.  Gordon Fernandes, heading up Asia Pacific Superyachts Myanmar reports: “Superyachts are finding more reasons to visit Myanmar as in addition to fantastic Mergui Archipelago cruising options, land explorations are incredible, including the UNESCO awarded Indawgyi Lake”.

Spanning over an area of 133,715 hectares, the Biosphere Reserve of Indawgyi Lake includes the lake and the surrounding wetlands and forest to a distance of about 15 kilometres. Indawgyi Lake is also home to more than 160 bird species—some of which are globally threatened water birds—as well as turtle species, endemic fish, mammals, reptiles and primates. Every year in the fall, migratory birds from as far as Siberia find solace around the area within Indawgyi Lake Wildlife Sanctuary.

Indawgyi is not the only site in Myanmar recognized by UNESCO. Up till now only the Phyu Ancient cities (the remains of three brick, walled and moated cities of Halin, Beikthano and Sri Ksetra) are listed as World Heritage sites.

UNESCO is of course known as well for The World Heritage List including some of the world’s greatest tourism destinations. Lesser known in Myanmar are the 3 “memories of the world” which include the Kuthodaw Inscription Shrines in Mandalay, the Myazedi Stone Inscription in Bagan which includes an inscription in four languages, Pyu, Mon, Myanmar and Pali, on each of the four sides of the column and The Golden Letter from 1756 of the Burmese King Alaungphaya to King George II of Great Britain.

In total 14 other places in Myanmar are submitted on the Tentative List including Bagan ancient temple city and the lesser known Mrauk U ancient city, according to Myanmar Tourism Marketing, with the hope other places around Myanmar will soon receive UNESCO Heritage status. More international recognition will help show the world how much cultural and natural beauty this country has to offer.
