Local bloggers are discussing forming an independent party and running against Sadiq Khan for the Tooting seat in the next general election.
Residents have been messaging each other on the council-run Tooting Life forum about the possibility, which is thought to be in its infancy stages.
One resident wrote: “I know it sounds like a long shot, but I do truly believe that we are the best placed people to highlight areas which require serious change to give us all a better Tooting.”
There were suggestions of using the name The Tooting Popular Front after the cult television comedy Citizen Smith, although this idea was rejected by another blogger.
The general election is expected to be called in May, when Labour MP Mr Khan will go head-to-head with other candidates to defend his seat.
