MOREHEAD, Ky. - The Morehead State State women's basketball program is on the verge of something no MSU women's b-ball team has accomplished since 1978-79. A win Thursday night at Tennessee Tech would equal the school record, set by that team, of five straight road victories. The Eagles and Golden Eagles tip off at 6:30 p.m. EDT, and the game can be heard live on the Eagle Sports Network.
MSU will also be looking to keep its Ohio Valley Conference winning streak alive. The Eagles are 4-0 in OVC games this year and won the last league contest last season for a five-game streak in conference play. Overall, MSU is 11-5. Junior Chynna Bozeman continues to lead the OVC in scoring at 18.8 points per game. She has scored in double figures in all 16 games this year. The Eagles rank in the top three in 16 of the 18 stats categories kept by the conference.
Tennessee Tech is 6-7 heading into the weekend. The Golden Eagles, under first year head coach Sytia Messer, are 1-2 in the OVC. Tacarra Hayes tops TTU with 15 points per game. TTU is 4-0 at home this year.
Tech leads the series with MSU 52-16, but the Eagles have claimed four of the last six games. Before that, TTU had won 17 of the previous 19. Overall, the Eagles have just a 5-27 record in games played at Tech's Eblen Center.
After Thursday night's tilt, MSU will travel to face Jacksonville State Saturday at 3 p.m. EDT.
