Michigan women's basketball snaps three-game losing skid
While the University of Michigan's men's basketball team climbed out of a big halftime hole in University Park, Pa., the Wolverine women were taking the opposite path to a Big Ten Conference win over Iowa.
While the men fell behind 31-16 in the first half before rallying for a win at Penn State, the women took a 31-13 halftime lead over the Hawkeyes and cruised to a 63-46 win at Crisler Arena on Thursday night.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Wolverines (8-8, 2-3) and earned the team's first season sweep of the Hawkeyes (8-8, 1-4) since the 2000-01 season.
Sophomore forward Carmen Reynolds scored 13 points while freshman guard Dayeesha Hollin and senior center Krista Phillips added 12 points apiece.
Junior guard Veronica Hicks contributed a career-high 18 rebounds to her 10-point scoring total. It was Hicks' first double-double of the season, according to MGoBlue.com.
Jaime Printy led Iowa with 12 points.
The Hawkeyes shot a season-low 29.5 percent from the field (18 of 61) and Iowa's 46 points are also a season-low, reports HawkeyeSports.com.
