Woe continues for WMU women's basketball team

DeKALB, Ill. —

The offensive hardships continued for Western Michigan University’s women’s basketball team on Tuesday night.

The Broncos shot 33 percent from the field and 14 percent from behind the 3-point arc as

Mid-American Conference West foe Northern Illinois cruised to a 73-47 victory.

Western Michigan’s 47 points matched a season-low, joining Dec. 13’s demoralizing 69-47 loss to Illinois-Chicago.

The Huskies (7-8, 1-2 MAC) earned a 40-23 lead at the break after a 15-2 run midway through the half. Northern Illinois star guard Marke Freeman scored 19 of her game-high 24 points in the first half.

Ebony Cleary led the Broncos (5-11, 0-3) in scoring with 14 points, while Miame Giden added 11 points.

The Broncos travel to Mt. Pleasant to face rival Central Michigan at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
