If you own an iPhone 4 and find that you burn too quickly through its battery despite the 16 percent capacity bump, you have a new battery expansion option from an old favorite. Mophie has announced the Juice Pack Air for iPhone 4.
Maker of accessories for a variety of Apple products, Mophie has designed its Juice Pack line for the iPhone for some time—the company claims to have been first with a ‘Works with iPhone’ battery pack. Now in its seventh version, the Juice Pack Air has been updated to fit the iPhone 4.
The redesigned extended-battery-slash-case offers a 1500 mAh battery (the iPhone 4’s built-in battery is 1420 mAh), which Mophie claims to add up to 6 hours of talk time on 3G, and up to 12 on EDGE, or an extra 36 hours of audio playback, or nine hours of video playback.
The Juice Pack Air has also been redesigned, basically giving the iPhone 4 a little bulge in the back. The accessory features a soft-touch black back and silver band around the sides, along with cut-out areas to expose the iPhone’s various buttons and headphone jack. Mophie moved the four-LED status indicator from the back to the bottom of the pack (to make it easier to see without having to pull it out of, say, bag pockets), and the pass-through charging USB port allows you to sync with iTunes while charging either the iPhone’s internal battery or the pack’s extended battery.
The Juice Pack Air for the iPhone 4 is available now for $80.
