Dear Icenhauer’s:
I think I’ll just move in with you…if that’s okay. I mean, how could I not make myself right at home in your cozy rooms warmed by Mid-Century modern furniture pieces (thank you Gavin for this newly acquired knowledge) and personal and attentive bartenders like Jimmy who make sure my wine glass is never left empty and unattended? Or the backyard, where I can escape the hustle and bustle of downtown Austin by sitting in your perfectly landscaped (or xeroscaped) back-of-the-house earthy retreat for hauer’s and hauers and hauers?
I’ll have great neighbors- Lustre Pearl and Clive Bar- to keep me company in the neighborhood (Rainey Street). And, secretly, (or not so secretly), I’ve always wanted to live in a house that Michael Hsu, the designer of Uchi and Uchiko, designed. If only you could serve my favorite Sweet Corn Sorbet dessert from Uchiko…. okay, now I’m dreaming. It sounds like you have everything I ever needed or wanted in a bar, I mean house. So, I’m moving in. K? Thanks!

My parents just rented a suite in the Legacy on The Lake at the end of Rainey Street, if you’re taking up residence…I’m sure I’ll see you there! 😉 How fun, can’t wait to pass along the info that Rainey Street is a great place to hang out. It looks rough around the edges, but you can tell its laced with old world charm.
