Christian Barmore : Expected to be available in April

Speaking Monday, new Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said Barmore (illness) is expected to be available for the start of the offseason program next month, Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports. Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots last summer and missed the first 10 games of the 2024 season before being cleared to play in November. He appeared in four games before experiencing recurred symptoms, leading to his placement on the reserve/non-football illness list for the final three contests of the year. Barmore's return would be a massive boost to New England's defensive line.

Tykee Smith : Could move to safety

Speaking Monday, Bucs GM Jason Licht said the team is considering moving Smith to safety full time next season, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Selected in the third round of the 2024 Draft, Smith played 672 defensive snaps as a rookie, 589 of which came as Tampa Bay's slot corner. Moving from the slot to safety wouldn't be a totally foreign challenge for the second-year defensive back. The Bucs released starting safety Jordan Whitehead (neck) at the start of free agency, opening up playing time at the position.

Terry McLaurin : May sign extension soon

Commanders GM Adam Peters said Monday that he'd like to sign McLaurin to an extension before Week 1, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. McLaurin has one season remaining on the three-year, $68.2 million extension he signed in 2022, with $19 million to $20 million in real-money compensation for 2025. That might be enough to prevent a holdout, but the Commanders would rather lock him in for multiple years after McLaurin finished 2024 with career highs for touchdowns (13), catch rate (70.2 percent) and PPR points per game (15.9). Tough as it may be to avoid TD regression, McLaurin figures to remain highly efficient and may even get a slight boost to his target volume, entering his second season in an offense led by QB Jayden Daniels and OC Kliff Kingsbury. Offseason acquisition Deebo Samuel should mostly get touches/targets that went to Olamide Zaccheaus, Dyami Brown and Noah Brown last year, including many of the screens that were a frequent feature of Kingsbury's offense. McLaurin remains unchallenged as the team's top threat to catch deep and intermediate passes.

Kyren Williams : Discussing extension

Rams GM Les Snead said Monday that he wants to "engineer a long-term partnership" with Williams, Gary Klein of the LA Times reports. Williams has been a polarizing player in the fantasy sphere since his 2023 breakout, and that's unlikely to change after he dipped to 4.1 YPC in 2024 while fumbling six times (including once in the playoffs). He otherwise had another big year, ranking third in carries per game (19.8), sixth in rushing yards per game (81.2) and tied for fifth in rushing touchdowns (14), giving him 26 rushing scores and five receiving TDs in 38 regular-season games over the past two seasons. Blake Corum, a 2024 third-round pick, never made a serious push to threaten Williams last season, and it sounds like the Rams would rather give Williams a contract extension than search for his replacement. Snead said he's already exchanged initial contract terms with agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Daniel Jones : Will split first-team reps

Jones and Anthony Richardson (back) will split first-team reps this spring, JJ Stankevitz of Colts.com reports. Coach Shane Steichen and GM Chris Ballard both suggested there's no timetable for naming a Week 1 starter, with both QBs expected to get significant first-team reps throughout the offseason program (and possibly into training camp). The Colts recently signed Jones to a one-year, $14 million contract that includes $13.15 million guaranteed, putting him above the market for backup quarterbacks but not quite in starter range. It sounds like he and Richardson will split reps 50/50 at the beginning of OTAs.

Carter finished Monday's 96-87 loss to the Clippers with nine points (4-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist over 31 minutes. Carter stuffed the stat sheet on the defensive end Monday, tying his season highs in both blocks and steals during the loss. Additionally, the big man recorded multiple swipes and swats for the first time this season. However, the 25-year-old was inefficient from the field, and he has shot only 39.7 percent from the floor across his last eight outings.

Williams closed Monday's 110-106 victory over the Jazz with 18 points (8-9 FG, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds and one assist over 34 minutes. Williams returned to action after missing the previous game due to rest purposes. He ended the game with his third straight double-double, continuing his strong finish to the season. Although the Hornets' season has been far from positive, the fact Williams has been relatively healthy is a win for the organization. Assuming he remains in Charlotte, he should be locked in as a key piece moving forward.

Simpson started for the third straight game, delivering another intriguing performance. With LaMelo Ball having been ruled out for the season due to ankle and wrist injuries, Simpson appears to have secured the starting role. Over the past three games, he has averaged 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.0 three-pointers.

Franz Wagner : Logs game-high six assists in loss

The long ball was the first extra-base hit of the season for Busch, who had gone just 4-for-18 at the plate prior to Monday's big performance.

Carson Kelly : Makes history with March cycle

Kelly hit for the cycle against the Athletics in an 18-3 win Monday, going 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple, a double, two walks, three runs and five RBI. Per ABC 7 Chicago, Kelly became the first MLB player in history to hit for the cycle in the month of March and just the 17th catcher to accomplish the feat. The plodding backstop got the most difficult hit in the cycle in his final plate appearance, ricocheting a hit off the center-field wall in the eighth inning and reaching third base after the ball rolled on the outfield grass. The triple was just the third of Kelly's 10-year big-league career. He had gone 1-for-6 over two starts prior to Monday's explosive performance.

Félix Bautista : Labors through ninth inning Monday

Bautista gave up two runs on two hits and two walks in the ninth inning during Monday's 8-5 win over the Red Sox. Bautista labored Monday, needing 26 pitches to finish off the game. A Romy Gonzalez double and Jarren Duran single plated two runs to make this one interesting, but Alex Bregman popped out while representing the tying run to end the contest. Bautista is still working his way back into form after missing all of last season due to Tommy John surgery and likely won't work back-to-back days early on, but he'll have a day off before Wednesday's meeting with Boston.

Kyle Tucker : Posts four hits, three RBI in rout

Tucker went 4-for-7 with a home run, two doubles, four total runs and three total RBI in Monday's 18-3 win over the Athletics. Tucker and Carson Kelly both had four hits for Chicago on a night when the team exploded for 18 runs. The star outfielder capped the outburst with a 417-foot solo shot in the ninth inning to notch his third straight game with a homer. Tucker has been everything the Cubs could have hoped for when they traded for him last December. Through seven games, Tucker is slashing .323/.400/.742 with three long balls, four doubles, six runs, 10 RBI and a stolen base.

Perreault had a productive sophomore season at Boston College this year, recording 16 goals and 32 assists over 37 appearances, and he's slated to join the Rangers after signing his entry-level deal. The 19-year-old was selected by the Blueshirts with the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, and he's expected to see some playing time in the closing weeks of the regular season, as the Rangers hope that he'll be able to provide a boost as they compete for a postseason berth.

Jack Thompson: Summoned from AHL

Thompson was recalled from AHL San Jose on Monday, according to Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News. Thompson has collected three goals, six points, 33 shots on net and 36 blocked shots across 24 NHL outings this season. The Sharks returned Luca Cagnoni to the minors in a corresponding move. Thompson is a good bet to play against Anaheim on Tuesday because of injuries to Henry Thrun (upper body), Vincent Desharnais (upper body) and Jimmy Schuldt (undisclosed).

Alex Pietrangelo: Practices Monday

Pietrangelo (lower body) practiced Monday but could miss Tuesday's game against Edmonton, Ryan Wallis of Fox Sports Las Vegas reports. During Monday's session, Pietrangelo paired with Ben Hutton, a frequent healthy scratch this season. The 35-year-old Pietrangelo doesn't appear ready to return from a three-game absence versus the Oilers, but an update on his status should come after Tuesday's morning skate. He has produced four goals, 32 points, 119 shots on net and 131 blocked shots through 67 games this season.

Ilya Samsonov: Labeled day-to-day

Samsonov is dealing with an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day ahead of Tuesday's matchup with Edmonton, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. Samsonov probably wasn't going to start Tuesday's game regardless, but the team brought up Akira Schmid from AHL Henderson in case Samsonov isn't healthy enough to back up Adin Hill. The Golden Knights == have a back-to-back against Calgary and Vancouver on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, which could be an opportunity for Samsonov to start if he's cleared to play by the weekend.

Tomas Hertl: Won’t play this week

Hertl (shoulder) won't be available this week, Ryan Wallis of Fox Sports Las Vegas reports Monday. Hertl sustained a shoulder injury during the Golden Knights' win over the Lightning on March 23, and he's missed three games since then. He'll be forced to miss a few more matchups, and it's not yet clear when Vegas expects him to return.

Sam Steel: Dealing with undisclosed injury

Steel will be out of action against the Kraken on Monday due to an undisclosed injury, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports. Steel is mired in a 14-game goal drought dating back to Feb. 28 versus the Kings. During his slump, the 27-year-old forward chipped in just three assists to go with eight shots, nine hits and five blocked shots while averaging 12:54 of ice time. With Steel out of the lineup, Colin Blackwell will step back into the lineup in a fourth-line role.
