June 16, 2010 - Green
Bay women's basketball lone recruit for the 2010-11 season, Megan Lukan (ON,
Canada), has been awarded the title of Ms. Basketball Canada, 2010.
The award is considered to be the most prestigious award
presented to the best high school player in Canada.
"What an outstanding achievement for our newest Phoenix
Player. We are so proud of Megan and happy to have her joining our
Phoenix family this fall," said Green Bay head coach Matt Bollant.
This summer the 5'7 guard from Barrie, Ontario has been
training with the Canadian Women's Junior National Team. Lukan and her
teammates depart this weekend for Colorado Springs to participate in the FIBA
Championships next week at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
The FIBA Americas
U18 Championship for Women features the best players aged 18 years and younger
from eight countries in the FIBA Americas zone.
Lukan played for the National Elite Development Association
(NEDA) and helped the U17 Team Ontario win a bronze medal at the 2009 Canada
games. After the NEDA folded last summer, Lukan finished her prep career at
Barrie Central where she concluded her prep career earning Female Athlete of
the Year honors. Lukan will join the Phoenix this fall.
