Canisius College women's basketball coach
Terry Zeh announced today that Jacey Brooks has joined the Golden
Griffins' coaching staff after spending the past three years on the staff at St.
Bonaventure University.
"We're excited to add Jacey to the staff.
Her passion for the game and commitment to the welfare of the student-athletes
is something that we really value," Zeh said. "We look forward to many
positive contributions from her to our program."
Brooks moved into an assistant coach role
for the 2009-10 season after spending two seasons as the director of basketball
operations at St. Bonaventure. As an assistant coach, Brooks helped with the
day-to-day operation of the program, travel, video exchange and program
organization.
The Bonnies played in the WNIT the past
two seasons, winning a combined 46 games and advancing to the quarterfinals of
the 2009 WNIT. In 2008-09, St. Bonaventure qualified for the postseason for the
first time in program history, won a program-record 23 games and also earned a
win over No. 24/23 Michigan State.
In 2009-10, the Bonnies played in the postseason for the second
consecutive season, also winning 23 games for the second straight year.
A 2006 graduate of Buffalo State College,
Brooks played four years of basketball at Buffalo State, leaving as the
program's fourth all-time leading scorer (1,219 points) and ninth all-time in
rebounds (554). A two-time all- SUNYAC performer, Brooks helped lead the
Bengals to three straight SUNYAC tournaments.
Brooks also has coached in the Empire
State Games, serving as an assistant coach for the Western region in the
women's open division.
Brooks takes over the open spot on the
coaching staff when Jen Gwin moved
to Northeast Ohio to join her fiancé. Gwin is getting married this summer and
has joined the coaching staff at Youngstown State.
