The Syracuse women's basketball team took a break from its daily practice schedule to host the Orange's annual media day at the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center on Monday, October 18. Fifth-year head coach Quentin Hillsman joined the newest squad in the basketball facility to address the media about this year's highly-anticipated campaign.

“We won 25 games, the most in school history, Nicole Michael left here our all-time leading scorer and rebounder, Erica Morrow climbed the charts in scoring and Tasha Harris is now seventh in assists. We did so many positive things last year that this year I just want to focus on those things and get better,” Hillsman said.

Syracuse ended the 2009-10 season in the quarterfinals of the Women's National Invitation Tournament. SU, which won more than one postseason game for the first time in a single season, concluded its historic campaign with the most wins (25) in a season since it began competing in the NCAA in 1981-82.

Hillsman welcomes back nine members of the record-breaking 2009-10 team that advanced to the quarterfinals of the WNIT. The Orange will be lead by Erica Morrow, Tasha Harris, Kayla Alexander and Carmen Tyson-Thomas.

Syracuse also welcomes back senior Carniece Greene, juniors Tyler Ash, Troya Berry and Chanieka Williams and sophomore Elashier Hall. Joining the nine returners are junior Iasia Hemingway, redshirt freshman Shakeya Leary and freshmen Phylesha Bullard, Tiara Butler, Rachel Coffey and La'Shay Taft.

The Orange opens its season at home against Northeastern on Friday, November 12 at 9:30 p.m. Season and single-game tickets may be purchased online by phone through Ticketmaster at 888-DOMETIX (888-366-3849), or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office.
