Hercules is arriving to the big screen even earlier next year.
The Renny Harlin-directed Hercules: The Legend Begins has been shifted to a Jan. 10, 2014 wide release date, Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment said on Friday. It was originally set for release in the U.S. on Feb. 17, 2014.
The film, featuring Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz in the title role, is one of two films revolving around the mythological figure that will be released next year.
EARLIER: Ian McShane Joins Dwayne Johnson in ‘Hercules’
MGM and Paramount are producing the bigger budget Hercules: The Thracian Wars, which is directed by Brett Ratner and stars Dwayne Johnson. The title is set for a Summer release date of July 25, 2014.
The Legend Begins was previously scheduled to launch stateside on the same weekend as Warner Bros. The Lego Movie and the George Clooney-directed Monuments Men, already delayed from December 2012 release date.
Paramount’s action spy franchise title, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, is set to open a week after Legend Begins on Jan. 17.
