ELK GROVE—
A suspicious man who is supposedly trying to lure teenagers into his car has Elk Grove authorities on alert.
There have been four concerning incidents over the past two weeks, Elk Grove Police say.
The first incident happened back on Oct. 12 around 2:30 p.m. A 13-year-old boy was walking near Darley Way and Toscano Drive when a car pulled up next to him. The driver tried to talk to the teen, but police say the boy ignored the man.
A few days later, on Oct. 16 around 10 a.m., a 13-year-old girl told police that she was walking near Whitelock Parkway and Schuler Ranch Road when a car pulled up next to her. The driver tried talking to her and even pulled in front of her into a parking lot. But, she soon ran from the area.
The next incident happened near Franklin High Road and Stathos Drive, where a 14-year-old girl says she was walking only to see a car make a u-turn. The driver tried to talk to her from the opposite lane, but she took off running.
In the final incident, a 15-year-old boy reported that he was biking near Backer Ranch Road and Elk Grove Boulevard just after noon on Oct. 26 when a car pulled up next to him. At first, the boy thought the driver was a family friend, but he soon realized that the driver was a stranger, so he rode away on his bike.
Police note that the suspect in all cases was driving either yellow compact or a full-sized van. The driver is described as a heavy-set, middle-aged black man with short hair.
Anyone with information on who the suspect may be is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department at (916) 478-8060.
