NBC’s Crisis has added a legendary former TV cop to its ranks.
Hunter star Fred Dryer has booked a recurring role on NBC’s midseason drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The thriller from Rand Ravich (Life) centers on Washington’s most powerful players as they are pulled into an international conspiracy when an unlikely puppeteer brings everyone from CEOs to the president of the United States to their knees by threatening the things they hold most dear.
Dryer will be credited as a recurring guest star and play Thomas Jefferson Smith, a powerful, imposing, confident and wise seasoned CIA agent who, despite being in his 60s, can still kick butt. He joins a cast that includes Dermot Mulroney, Gillian Anderson, Rachael Taylor and James Lafferty.
The role brings Dryer back to NBC, where he played Sgt. Rick Hunter on the network’s cop drama Hunter for seven seasons. His recent credits include The Exes and a handful of Hunter TV movies after NBC abandoned plans to revive the series in 2003. Dryer, a former NFL defensive end for the Giants and Rams, is repped by Greater Vision Artists.
A formal premiere date for Crisis, from 20th Century Fox Television, has yet to be announced. Check out the trailer below.
