Rachel Maddow has been added to the roster of Washington Post opinion columnists.
The MSNBC host will write a monthly column for the D.C. newspaper, editorial page editor Fred Hiatt announced on Wednesday.
“We expect that she will bring to Post readers the strong arguments, sharp wit and thoughtful analysis of political and social issues that have made her show an Emmy Award winner,” Hiatt wrote in a statement. The debut column is expected this week.

Maddow’s previous contributions to the newspaper include a March 2012 op-ed entitled “4,000 days of war in Afghanistan?” that was written and timed to the release date of her book, Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power.
Many of the newspaper columnists — among them Charles Krauthammer (Fox News) and Ezra Klein (MSNBC) — are regular staples on cable news networks. Post columnist Fareed Zakaria hosts an international affairs show on CNN.
Hiatt told the Post‘s media blog that Maddow’s deal includes a column once a month for six months.
