Education Matters - What is a good teacher? by teachfirst published on 2012-05-02T09:28:32Z As part of the 10th Anniversary, Teach First has started a national conversation about why education matters. We are looking to understand what collective impact is needed to close the gap between children from low-income communities and their wealthier peers. A number of Education Matters events have already taken place with more planned across the anniversary year. Four events are planned in partnership with the RSA. The first, on Monday 30 April, brought together a high-profile panel to ask: What is a good teacher? Speakers included Sir Michael Wilshaw, HM Chief Inspector of Education, Ndidi Okezie, Teach First ’03 Ambassador and Assistant Principal at Burlington Danes Academy, Peter Hyman, a head teacher at School 21, and Matthew Taylor, chief executive at the RSA. The discussion was chaired by BBC Education Correspondent, Gillian Hargreaves. Genre Education
