Digital comics publisher MonkeyBrain lives up to the first half of its name with the publication of two charity anthologies benefiting a non-profit primate sanctuary in Nicholasville, KY, featuring an outrageously good collection of talent, including Stan Lee, Colleen Coover and Molly Crabapple, among many others.
The two collections, Panels for Primates and companion title Panels for Primates Junior, have both been assembled by editor and writer Troy Wilson to raise both funds and awareness for the Primate Rescue Center in Nicholasville, KY, a sanctuary that houses more than 50 primates, including 11 chimpanzees.

Creators contributing to the collections include not only the aforementioned Lee, Coover and Crabapple, but also the likes of DC Comics’ Jeff Lemire, Finder creator Carla Speed McNeil and John Byrne, who is best known for his work on Uncanny X-Men and Fantastic Four for Marvel and revamping Superman for DC Comics in the mid ’80s.
Each anthology collects what Wilson describes as “primate-themed comics, prose and illustration,” with profits from both going towards the Primate Rescue Center. Both anthologies are available exclusively on ComiXology. Perhaps it’s time to start monkeying around and do some good ahead of the holidays.
