400 Carmichael Residents Without PowerCARMICHAEL –

About four hundred SMUD customers were without power in Carmichael early Wednesday morning.

The outage started when a car slammed into a power pole on Manzanita Avenue near Winding Way around 1:30 a.m. There were no reports of injuries.

Some residents FOX40 spoke to were worried their Thanksgiving dinner would spoil in their fridges, others said they weren’t able to get into their apartment and had to hop the gate.

As of 5:30 a.m., SMUD reported that it had received nearly 30 calls about the outage. Seven SMUD trucks came out, with crews working to replace the pole.

Power was restored by 6:30 a.m. for most customers. About 20 customers will not have power until Wednesday afternoon.
