In a stroke of corporate synergy, Telemundo’s La Voz Kids is relocating to Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., for its second season, which is set to bow on NBCUniversal’s Spanish-language broadcaster this spring. The show will originate each week from Universal Studios’ production facility, which will give the theme park a significant in-show marketing presence.
La Voz Kids, a Spanish-language kids version of The Voice, NBC’s hit singing competition franchise, has given Telemundo its most-watched reality show in network history on Sunday nights. The first season of the show averaged 2.2 million viewers each week.
Contestants are between the ages of seven and 15; the winner receives a recording contract with Universal Music and $50,000 toward a scholarship.
“This partnership is a clear example of how we are leveraging the NBCUniversal properties to develop and produce relevant content for the Hispanic market,” Joe Uva, chairman, Hispanic Enterprises & Content for NBC Universal, said in a statement.
It’s unclear whether Paulina Rubio, Prince Royce or Roberto Tapia will return as coaches and whether Daisy Fuentes is onboard as host for season two.
