Abbe Raven, A+E Networks chairman, has joined the executive committee of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Bruce L. Paisner, International Academy president and CEO, made the announcement Wednesday.
“We’re delighted to have Abbe Raven join our executive committee,” said Paisner in a statement. “She brings great knowledge and experience to the table and will provide valuable guidance for the Academy.”
Her term as executive committee member begins Jan. 1, 2014. Raven has been a director on the Academy’s board since June 2005.
As A+E Networks chairman, Raven’s — No. 13 on The Hollywood Reporter‘s 2013 Women in Entertainment — portfolio includes A&E, Lifetime, History, LMN, FYI (formerly Bio.), H2, History en Espanol, Crime & Investigation Network, Military History and LRW in addition to A&E IndieFilms, A+E Networks International, A+E Networks Digital and A+E Networks Consumer Products. Raven, promoted to the position of chairman in April, spearheads long-term business and revenue strategy and initiates public policy efforts.
Raven was previously president and CEO of A+E Networks, tripling earnings and expanding its portfolio since March 2005, and oversaw the merger with Lifetime in 2009. A+E Networks’ channels and programming have reached more than 350 million households in more than 150 countries under her leadership.
The Academy’s executive committee includes Fred Cohen, Simon Sutton, Blair Westlake, Larry Gershman, Rainer Siek, Kevin Beggs, Ralph Baruch, Adriana Cisneros and Camille Bidermann Roizen.
