North Carolina State junior defensive tackle J.R. Sweezy has been indefinitely suspended after his arrest for allegedly assaulting a shuttle bus driver early Thursday.
Sweezy faces charges of misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor larceny following the incident, which took place at 2:37 a.m. ET in Mooresville, N.C.
Police said Sweezy had been asked to leave the shuttle bus, and on his way out he knocked over the driver's tip jar.
The driver, David Scott Magnuson, and another man confronted Sweezy, and an altercation ensued.
According to a TV station in Raleigh (News 14 Carolina), the bus driver was 65. Police said Sweezy was asked to leave for acting "loud and obnoxious."
A Mooresville police spokeswoman told The News & Observer that underage drinking was a factor in the incident. The 6-foot-5, 293-pound Sweezy is 20 years old.
Sweezy, a Mooresville native, appeared in 12 games last season for the Wolfpack (starting one) and recorded 26 tackles, including three sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss.
