Cartoonists Art Baltazar and Franco have quietly built up a considerable fan following over the past few years, with all-ages work including DC Entertainment’s Tiny Titans and Superman Family Adventures, Dark Horse Comics’ Hellboy and their own Aw Yeah Comics. This April, the two creators take on three different comic book universes at once — and they promise it’ll be a catastrophe.
Captain Action Cat: The Timestream CATastrophe mashes up the duo’s own Action Cat character with Captain Action, the Dynamite Entertainment revival of the classic action/adventure toyline, and then goes further, bringing in characters from Dark Horse’s Ghost, Captain Midnight and other series.

“I feel so lucky to be in this industry and that people are willing to let us play with their toys,” Franco said in a statement accompanying the announcement of the project. “This one means quite a bit to me personally because this crossover event features something we created — Action Cat from our own Aw Yeah Comics — which we get to crossover with Captain Action (as a cat) and the heroic crew from Dark Horse. ‘Wow’ is an understatement!”
The first issue of Captain Action Cat: The Timestream CATastrophe will be released in comic book stores and digitally on April 16.
