Kodak PixPro Lens Cameras announced, rival Sony QX series

Kodak has announced a pair of lens cameras at CES 2014 to rival the Sony QX series offerings.

The Kodak PixPro SL10 and PixPro SL25 Smart Lens cameras work in a similar way to the Sony Lens Cameras, attaching to your smartphone to let you take better photographs without an additional camera.

Both PixPro Smart Lens Cameras are compatible with Android and iOS smartphones and are controlled via a free app, just like the Sony alternatives.

However, they will be cheaper than the Sony QX10 (£164) and QX100 (£384), with the SL10 priced at $199 (£121) and the SL25 $299 (£182).

The specs on both Kodak lens cameras are a little scarce at present and Kodak is even keeping the sensor they use under wraps for now.

However, we do know that the SL10 has a 10x zoom lens with a 28-280mm range. The SL25 has a 25x zoom with a 24-600mm range. Both are capable of recording full 1080p HD video and can be equipped with a microSD card to store your photos and videos on.

The lens cameras also both have optical image stabilisation too, but that’s all Kodak has let on so far.

With the pair expected to launch in spring 2014, Kodak added that both lens cameras will only weigh “a few ounces”.
