Hi guys I wrote to Sony asking about plans on upgrading to jelly beans our tablet and this was the answer I got:
Thank you for contacting Sony Support.

I understand that you want to upgrade the Android from Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwitch) to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Regretfully, due to all the variables involved with, testing, manufacturing, and distribution, we are not able to provide any definite release dates. However, the update will be available very soon and you will be notified with the notifier in the Tablet.

So maybe we could be seeing and update at the end of the year (maybe)

This is awesome news, good to see Sony do care about their customers. I would like to see the wifi issues addressed (Does anyone else have issues with their wifi?) apart from that the Sony Tablet S still has a lot of potential in the market, great price and awesome experience! Thanks for this update gssbzn! :)

Great news

Well that is good news. I recently bought the tab and I love every bit of it. Haven't had any wireless issues. I really hope when sony releases the next update they also enable this device to control PS3. In my opinion that's the major hurdle right now in realizing the full potential of this device as a media controller.

Yep that is the only let down for me ps3 control and being able to throw films to it would be perfect.

I know what you mean with the wifi issue - you are connected (wifi icon is present and blue and wifi says 'connected') but basically you have no communication.

somebody recommended "advanced wifi lock", free from Google Play and I'm running that now, so far it seems to fix it.

I have the problem when I lose connection on sleep mode set on Never, sometimes disconnects randomly and the application I tryed failed at certain times, Wifi bar lowers randomly and I lose connection even though the tablet said that there is a signal.
Hope Sony finds a fix for the Wi-fi ;)

Hey andyabc,

what apps do you use?

Advanced wifi locker, Wifi fixer (Uninstalled due to force closes when trying to open after killing it and changing network XP) and Internet booster (BTW, It still disconnects at curtain times a little bit but better then constant ;))

Right next to you.
I'm very happy with my Tablet S, I have had the wifi stall on occasion but a quick off/on fixes it for me, think its happened no more than 5-6 times since I got the tablet.

I'm just hoping to root my official ICS and get write access to the sdcard, I've tried an unofficial CM10 rom on my Motorola Atrix and Jelly Bean with Google Now is definitely a mobile experience.......

But I'll take a Tablet S update for sure. :)

Right next to you.
I can't write to my sd card, sure I can read from it, but I can't write or delete files from it using the tab, and I'm not talking about moving files using Sony transfer.

I have official Ics.

    How do you know that??

Hope it will be true, but for example with 4.0.3 r5a they said it would be released worlwide yesterday, and in Europe we have still no news about it!

Hey, I took with US custom service that day, and she told me.
But don't so happy, it's just a schedule.

So there is a new update. It is not JB, but a fair addition to what we've got. Aside from obvious cosmetic changes there are a few functional once as well.

Lots of built-in apps are replaced to match xperia product line. Among the most noticeable changes are the ability to set any desktop widget as a mini app, ability to enhance speaker volume by a significant amount and guest mode. Mini widgets working pretty good, I am using one for my audio player. Speakers became quite loud and you can feel them vibrating on high volume. Guest mode seems somewhat useless to me. It allows one to have their own desktop, set password for it and restrict access to chosen apps. Unless you have something to hide or want to limit use of play store for other members of your family, you will not find yourself using it. Overall 4.0.3a5 looks stable and has some JB vibe in it. The last brings a sad idea that this could be the last update for S1, although don't take my word for it. Wi-Fi issues looks to be fixed at last.
