Like Barack Obama and Chris Christie before him, Mitt Romney took the Late Night stage on Friday night to slow jam the news with Jimmy Fallon — delivering a self-deprecating version of his 2012 stump speech.
The former Republican presidential nominee — who’s been on a media tour as Netflix promotes the campaign doc Mitt — stopped by the late-night show for five minutes of riffing on pop culture set to the jam of house band The Roots.
Romney took the jabs about losing the election and his infamous “47 Percent” remark in stride. He also name-checked both Netflix and Mitt, which premiered Jan. 18 at Sundance and counted the former Massachusetts governor in attendance at the screening.
“For me, things are going great,” Romney said over The Roots’ slow jam. “In fact there’s a new documentary out on Netflix called Mitt, which is a candid behind-the-scenes look at my two presidential runs. The reviews are in and, so far, they’re positive.”
There were a few wistful moments delivered by the politician. “I’m not too concerned with the election anymore, after all we can’t keep living in the past,” Romney stated.
“Can’t keep living in the past?” Fallon asked. “This coming from the guy who got video taped last week doing the ‘Gangnam Style’ dance.”
