Set Construction and Design – Side Walls and Curtains

Here’s a bit more info on the other parts of the set.

As aforementioned, there are two walls at either side of the backdrop, both of which are partially obstructed by curtains. The left wall has a doorway in it through which the characters will enter/exit the stage. The right wall, functionless, is solid. Both the walls and the floor are sparsly decorated and painted in keeping with the crude costume style of the mannequins – black with a brown line. I have taken some pictures to test out how the characters look against these backgrounds. They blend very nicely into the collage backdrop, just as planned – the artists are an extension of their portrayed static ideas, after all.

I’ve also taken some more pictures simply piecing parts of the set together randomly as I please. Here’s one –

I love the way the white suit stands out against the black wall. As this figure represents my own DADAist ideas, this is a nice touch – I’m not connected to the original work of the 1920’s in the same way the classic artists’ were, so I don’t blend in with the background.
