SACRAMENTO-

PG&E and SMUD have arranged to increase the amount of water flowing into the American River for part of the summer, starting Memorial Day weekend.

On busy rafting weekends, flows into the American River will be increased to 1,300 to 1,500 cubic feet per second. During the week, no water will be released.

The release schedule runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
