Universal announced a slew of release dates Thursday, including 2015 dates for the sequel to Pitch Perfect and Guillermo del Toro‘s Crimson Peak.
Pitch Perfect 2, which will be Elizabeth Banks‘ directorial debut, will hit theaters on May 15, 2015. Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon is returning to pen the next chapter.
The musical comedy will go up against Warner Bros.’ Mad Max: Fury Road on that date.
Legendary Pictures’ Crimson Peak, which is helmed by del Toro and written by del Toro, Matthew Robbins and Lucinda Coxon, will hit theaters on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015. The film stars Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver. Set in northern England in the 19th century, the film follows a young woman (Wasikowska) who discovers that her new husband (Hiddleston) is not who he appears to be. The film currently has that date to itself.
Universal also announced that As Above, So Below, a microbudget thriller from Legendary Pictures, will hit theaters on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014. John Erick Dowdle (Quarantine, Devil) is directing the pic, which follows a group of explorers who venture into the catacombs the lie beneath the streets of Paris.
The film will open against Lionsgate’s Expendables 3 and The Weinstein Co.’s adaptation The Giver.
Crime thriller A Walk Among the Tombstones, based on a novel by Lawrence Block, will arrive in theaters on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. It stars Liam Neeson as a former NYPD officer who is hired by a drug dealer (Downton Abbey‘s Dan Stevens) to find his kidnapped wife in New York City.
Other wide releases on Sept. 19 include Fox’s YA adaptation The Maze Runner and Warner Bros. sequel Dolphin Tale 2.

Ouija, a thriller based on the popular board game, will hit theaters just in time for Halloween on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014. Directed by Stiles White, the film centers on a group of friends who use the Ouija board to try to make contact with a recently deceased friend, but end up awakening a dark presence.
Olivia Cooke and Douglas Smith will star in the film, which is produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form for Platinum Dunes, Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions, Bennett Schneir and Hasbro.
The supernatural pic will open against Paranormal Activity 5 and Fox’s untitled Vince Vaughn movie.
Everest, directed by Baltasar Kormakur and starring Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal, will climb into theaters on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 in 3D and Imax 3D. The film follows two different expeditions as they attempt to climb the world’s highest mountain.
The only other film set for that date is Ryan Reynolds starrer Selfless.
Finally, the Untitled Illumination Entertainment 2016 Project 1 as been renamed The Untitled Pets Project. It will hit theaters on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, as previously announced.
