People living in a Rancho Cordova mobile home park gather water spilling from a fire hydrant, as water service will be cut off until Monday afternoon.

RANCHO CORDOVA-

A mobile home park in Rancho Cordova is forced to do without water for more than 24 hours, after thousands of gallons of water spilled out of a fire hydrant Sunday afternoon.

Maintenance crews that were called to the situation say the flooding is caused by a break in the park’s water main. The crew had to open the hydrant, depressurizing the entire system to slow the water flow, and ultimately fix the leak.

Frustrated park residents filled buckets with water, to wash their hands and faces until water service is restored, as water poured into the streets.

“We’ve been out here three hours,” a man living in the mobile home park said Sunday. “Three hours and it’s still going. Ridiculous.”

Water use will likely be restored Monday afternoon. In the meantime, residents are left without water until further notice.
