In part one, 94-year-old mining legend John Schnabel convinces his grandsons Parker and Payson to return to Big Nugget to work together deep into the winter to prove, once and for all, that there is big gold buried deep under Smith Creek.
Part two is described as a “no-holds-barred show” that reveals why a fateful choice cost Todd Hoffman a huge amount of gold and how he dealt with a murder in the jungle, as well as how “Dakota” Fred Hurt coped with a dying wife.
Part two also reveals who will mine in which locations next season and who will not return.
In February, new episodes of Gold Rush averaged 4 million total viewers and it was the No. 1 show in all of TV among men 18-49 and men 25-54. It was also the No. 1 cable program (excluding sports) among total viewers as well as in several demos, including adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.
Gold Rush is produced for Discovery Channel by Raw Television, with Dimitri Doganis and James Bates as executive producers and Tom Fulford as series producer. For Discovery Channel, Christo Doyle is executive producer and Meagan Davis is producer.
