Circuit Scribe lets you draw electronic circuits

Electronics enthusiasts may soon enjoy building circuits without the tricky - and unpleasant - task of soldering components, with this new ballpen-like device.

Dubbed the Circuit Scribe, the ballpen uses silver conductive ink to sketch a fully functional electric circuit, without need for circuit boards or soldering.

"Goodbye Breadboard: Breadboards add a level of abstraction and annoyance to circuit building.  With Circuit Scribe you can draw exactly what you want, no wires or breadboard required," read the project's description on Kickstarter, adding that the ballpen makes creating circuits "as easy as doodling."

The Circuit Scribe Kickstarter campaign ended with a bang on January 1, with $674,425 worth of pledges —or 793% over the original goal of just $85,000.

A separate article on Mashable said Circuit Scribe makes it "cheaper, faster and easier to test out electronics and prototype concepts."

With the device, one only needs to sketch a circuit, using components such as buzzers and LED lights, as well as photo sensors and potentiometers.

"It can even interface with the Arduino MaKey MaKey, allowing for even more elaborate designs and making it ideal for hackers at any level. With Circuit Scribe, you can create everything from a simple switch to a fully functioning touchpad. The water-based ink dries instantly so you can immediately begin testing on a freshly drawn circuit," it added.

Mashable said the device is for children starting to learn about circuitry as well as for tech hobbyists trying to quickly test a prototype. — TJD, GMA News
