The top 12 was revealed during Thursday’s episode of American Idol — a result derived from voting since the start of Wednesday’s show for the first time in Idol history, through Google and Facebook.

The elimination episode kicked off with a mash-up (part of which was recorded during Wednesday night’s episode) of OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars,” Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive), followed by footage of the contestants having a late dinner after their competition performances.
Season 12 winner Candice Glover also stopped by to perform “Cry” and “Same Kinda Man” off her debut album, Music Speaks. English indie-folk artist Jake Bugg also performed “Me and You,” at the request of Keith Urban.
Randy Jackson’s perspective on the performances were shown throughout the episode as Ryan Seacrest revealed the bottom three: Malaya Watson, MK Nobilette and Kristen O’Connor. Nobilette was shown as safe, leaving Watson and O’Connor in the bottom two.
“I would try to be more myself and do what just comes naturally,” said O’Connor if she had another week, while Watson, who had performed a bit too enthusiastically, said, “I would calm down for once in my life!”
However, O’Connor was the one sent packing, despite singing Adele’s “Turning Tables” for the judges’ save (as the Facebook profile pictures of her voters were shown on the side of the television screen and behind O’Connor onstage).
What do you think of O’Connor’s elimination? Should someone else have been sent home instead? Sound off in the comments below, Idol Worshippers!
