The Conference of English Leadership invites you to join its first Regional Institute! The Institute is designed for all types of literacy leaders. Whether a teacher-leader, ELA supervisor, building principal, district administrator, or an English education professor, you will find sessions that meet your professional needs. The morning will include a myriad of sessions facilitated by NJ literacy leaders on technology, innovative learning strategies, leadership, assessment, teacher evaluation and more. The day also includes two fantastic speakers, Tom Marshall and Chris Lehman, a networking session, round-table discussions as well as breakfast, lunch, and a coffee break! It promises to be a great professional learning opportunity for literacy leaders throughout in the tri-state area. You will spend the day networking, learning, discussing, and sharing your expertise.

Tom Marshall, Breakfast Speaker
"So, You Say You Want a Revolution?"
Tom Marshall is a former teacher of Grades 3 and 4, and staff developer at the Teachers College Reading & Writing Project at Columbia University. He is currently principal of Stony Lane Elementary School in Paramus, New Jersey.
Tom devotes a great deal of his time to working on literacy education. He conducts staff development and writes literacy curriculum for the district in Grades 3 and 4, teaches after school workshops, leads a course for literacy coaches, and is the founder of the New Jersey Literacy Leaders' Network, a group of about 70 principals from all over Northern and Central New Jersey who want to study together ways in which to support and supervise good teaching and learning in reading and writing. Tom blogs regularly for teachers and school leaders at www.littogether.com, and has been published in Educational Viewpoints, and at NCTE's Literacy in Learning Exchange.

Christopher Lehman is the Founding Director of The Educator Collaborative. He is an international speaker, education consultant and New York Times best-selling author. His books include: Falling In Love With Close Reading with Kate Roberts; Energize Research Reading and Writing;Pathways to the Common Core with Lucy Calkins and Mary Ehrenworth; and A Quick Guide to Reviving Disengaged Writers. His articles and interviews have appeared in many publications and popular blogs including Voices in the Middle, SmartBrief, EdWeek, Choice Literacy and Talks with Teachers.
Chris has been a middle-school teacher; a high-school teacher; a literacy coach; and a Senior Staff Developer with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University. Now, as Founding Director of the The Educator Collaborative, he works with schools around the world as a consultant and frequent keynote speaker, supporting educators, coaches, and administrators in developing rigorous and passionate literacy instruction across content areas.
