Niantic Labs @ Google created the new Field Trip app:

“Field Trip is an example of "ubiquitous computing," which Google and other tech companies are increasingly exploring. In a recent conversation, Hanke explained why he's interested in that concept and why his new team at Google is called Niantic Labs, after a whaling ship that was abandoned in San Francisco when its crew joined the 1849 gold rush. The ship was converted to a hotel that later burned; remnants have been found in the filled-in bay land of the city's Financial District.”
Q: Why did you pick the name?
A: I was interested in this idea of peeling back the layers of the world. I stumbled across the story of Gold Rush-era ships and how the Niantic was reused as a hotel and a brothel and now it's at the foot of the Transamerica Building, buried in the sediment. So the metaphor was the hidden stories: The knowledge exists; it's just not always available to us when it could be of benefit.

I was six years old... California desert. An XF-103 stuck out of a crack in the desert floor... frozen in space and time. I am Roland Jarvis, and I am not dead.
Notes:
XF-103 was confirmed on Day #13 to be the image superimposed on Tycho Poster #2 sticking out where Cupid’s arrow enters the ground.

There is a different and incomplete QR code on Google Maps at 35.096052, -117.940291 (Desert Butte Blvd., California City, CA 93505). +Gregory Strike says it leads to http://www.nianticproject.com/2rH, which shows the very same Roland Jarvis video!
“Desert floor” mentioned in the video is probably Mojave Desert near California City, CA. Much of the workforce of Edwards Air Force Base, which is located just south of the city, is made up of the city’s residents. Edwards AFB is also a military aircraft test center known for many aviation breakthroughs.

I took apart the phone. There was not much to lose, it was really not going to get any worse, right?
Some major surprises inside. Found a chip with an N on it, and some research led me to something called 'Niantic'. Prototype? I think yes!

Brian Rose made a G+ post about a wikipedia user named PAChapeau who edited the article on “sousveillance” (Word of the Day on Day #7) the day after on November 8, 2012. The added text was, “APX Labs has been known to perform sousveillance research”.
It is undetermined at this time whether this subtle edit is a legitimate clue directly related to the Niantic Project / Google ARG or if someone is intentionally trying to mislead us.
Nonetheless, the information is very interesting! Apparently, APX Labs (Twitter account) “builds the software that brings smart glasses to life”. They create advanced augmented reality software and their OS shell is built on the Android platform. They even make a very brief reference to Google and Google Glass on their blog.
APX Labs is a private company founded in 2011 and headquartered at 2350 Corporate Park Drive, Suite 510, Herndon, VA 20171.

MOSAIC THEORY:
The "mosaic theory" describes a basic precept of intelligence gathering: Disparate items of information, though individually of limited or no utility to their possessor, can take on added significance when combined with other items of information. Letter frequency analysis (i.e., how often a letter shows up in this message vs. “regular” English) suggests that the letters are likely transposed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_frequencies shows that ‘E’ and ‘T’ are by far the most common letters in English text. Many ‘K’s and ‘Z’s appear in the message above with similar frequencies. Those letters are shifted 6 letters down (i.e., ‘K’ is 6 letters after ‘E’ and ‘Z’ is 6 letters after ‘T’).

Now we probably have the correct letters; it’s just that they are mixed up somehow.
Title and Subject contain forward and backward slashes (not the letters ‘V’ or ‘W’). The zig-zag pattern could be a clue to use a rail fence cipher, which is a type of transposition cipher.
Setting the rails number to 6 (after several trials and errors) and reversing that result gives our answer:

Dr. Andresen was to investigate “energies” (XM?) emitted from ancient site, possibly in Bavaria. He could feel the energy like “when you are tuning in a radio”. Discovered a “natural Torsion field” using loaned technology (from whom?)
Tortion Fields are pseudo-scientific constructs that make faster-than-light communication and paranormal phenomena possible. (This info is consistent with XM = Exotic Matter and maybe Marfa, TX being a location known for ‘paranormal activity’.)
Torsion Fields (pseudoscience) was a theory conceived in the Soviet Union by physicists in the 1980s. The theory claims faster-than-light travel, extra-sensory perception, levitation, and other paranormal phenomena.
Herr Kammler removed Dr. Andresen from the investigation.
- Conspiracy blog The Fairfield Project mentions a “Herr Kammler” when discussing the Nazi Bell. Reference is made to a fictional book “The Hunt for Zero Point: Inside the Classified World of Antigravity Technology” by Nick Cook:

Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was a U.S. intelligence agency formed during WWII in 1942. It was the predecessor to the CIA.
- In pop culture, OSS was a featured organization in DC Comics, introduced in G.I. Combat #192 (July 1976). Led by the mysterious Control, they operated as an espionage unit, initially in Nazi-occupied France. The organization would later become Argent. Howard Chaykin worked on the G.I. Combat series (see reference to Comic-Con on Day #1).
Other details: “Rythmic” is spelled incorrectly (missing an ‘H’, although it’s capitalized, so maybe it’s a proper noun). - ADA is a semi-autonomous intelligent algorithm created to help and monitor Niantic researchers.
- “Relatability programming” is probably the advanced skills required to create a neural network with ‘empathy’ and ‘psychological pattern recognition’ capabilities. Loeb’s help is needed to do this.
- Correspondence between Henry Bowles and H. Richard Loeb was first presented in the Tuning ADA chat log from Day #3.
- Part of Bowles’ email text about ADA construction budget and contracts was decoded on Day #10.
- Ken Owens was introduced in Retrieve the Phone chat log from Day #7. He was the one responsible for keeping the Niantic Project codename and website out of the media. He is likely the one who stole Ben Jackland’s glitchy phone on Day #8. According to the above emails, he is probably a higher-level NIA employee who can grant “clearance checks”.
- The Shaper Study Proposal from Day #7 mentions, “Omnivore has assigned this project codename Niantic.” It sounds like the infrastructure already exists (“Omnivore components”) for evolving/re-purposing into ADA.

On Google+, at +Brandon Badger's page, people are pouring their creativity out in rivers, trading acts of art for access to the leaked Ingress technology.
Not long ago, an artist named Tycho was also being compelled to share his visions and creativity with the world, in fact that's what started this whole investigation....
It makes me wonder, who is the next Tycho, and where will he or she emerge from?

If he finds something, it would lend credence to the idea that
humans are attracted to portals -- at great distances, and an

Fyi, people have speculated that there may be a limit to the total number of individuals who can claim each code.
