Linebacker Dance Estes (Panama City, Fla./ Bay) is emerging as a Division I talent. According to his coach, Jim Longerbeam, he has a bright future at the next level. “This is a player with great instincts and an outstanding work ethic,” Longerbeam said. “I think though that his best quality is that he’s like a coach on field. Dance has a very high football IQ. Right now he’s kind of slipping through the cracks. I think he has a chance to be big-time player. He already has a qualifying test score and will be a four-year starter here. It’s my first year with him but he reminds me of the middle linebackers I used to see when I coached down in south Florida. He has so much potential.” Last season, as a junior, he racked up 67 tackles, returned two interceptions for touchdowns, recovered two fumbles and forced two fumbles. “Out there on the field I am a hard hitter,” Estes said. “I am pretty good at reading plays and getting to the ball.” According to Longerbeam teams like Buffalo and Middle Tennessee State are showing interest but at this time Estes does not have any scholarship offers. “In a perfect world I would like to play for teams like FSU, Alabama or Auburn,” Estes said. “Those are schools all close to where I live. But I am open to everyone.” Estes has a unique first name. A name his mother came up with after she gave birth. “We are a Christian family and she prayed about me during the pregnancy,” Estes said. “When I was born she danced and gave me the name. It gets me a lot of girls.”
