Ray Liotta has joined the cast of The Field, the feature debut of award-winning director Rohit Karn Batra. Guy Louthan and Jai Khanna of Brillstein Entertainment Partners are producing. The film is scheduled to begin production this fall in India.
Described as a “multi-storied crime thriller” set in the heart of New Delhi, The Field explores an undercover operation between a generational Indian mafia family through the themes of greed, corruption, family and loyalty. Liotta plays an arms dealer caught in the middle of the erupting war.

The film’s cast includes Indian actors Ronit Roy, Neeraj Kabi, Vineet Singh and actress Radhika Apte.
“Being an avid fan, it’s an honor to have Ray sign on to play such a pivotal role, a character I wrote specifically for him,” said Batra. The L.A.-based director’s credits include Roundabout, which won the jury prize for best short film at the 2012 Palm Beach International Film Festival.
“Ray has a career that is unequaled for its remarkable variety. We’re thrilled to have him on board,” added Khanna. “He has never worked in India…here is a veteran actor keen to play this role and shoot in the country, and support a young director.”
Atul Kasbekar and Adam W. Rosen will serve as executive producers.
Liotta is represented by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.
