SACRAMENTO-

Advanced Care funeral and Cremation Services of Sacramento was shut down on a temporary suspension for mishandling remains.

Five families did not receive their loved ones after they were cremated, spurning the suspension by the State of California Cemetery and Funeral Bruneau. Monday, the state found out another woman Lisa Evans never received her brothers remains, causing the state to delve back into the investigation.

FOX40 assisted one family in locating the remains. Tuesday, fewer than 24 hours after the family called us for help, the remains are on their way to the family.

According to Russ Heimerich, with the state, they contacted one of the owners of Advanced Care Funeral and Cremation Services, they admitted to having the remains. The state is taking over the responsibility of getting the remains to the family. They will be tracking the package.

Lisa Evans, the family member who was desperately searching for her brothers remains for two months, is frustrated that the remains were with the company the whole time. She is also frustrated that the didn’t bother to call the family to ease their worry.

The state is currently working to permanently suspend the licence of this company, they are also using the new information provided by FOX40 and Evans to go back through the company’s transactions and make sure no other family is still waiting for remains of a loved one.
