ucd strikeDAVIS-

A group of UC Davis student workers, consisting of teacher’s aids, took to the streets on campus because of what they call unfair practices and intimidation.

About 30 students held signs and marched at the intersection of Howard Avenue and Russell Boulevard, in protest of what they call unfair practices by the school.

The union that represents the student workers across the state and the heads of the California Universities are currently negotiating a new contract, and some of the students say they are being intimidated by university staff, and are being discouraged from being in the union.

“I received an email from the dean’s office saying our protest was illegal, but I know it’s not,” student Susan Richardson said.

The protesters admit some of their fellow union members at the school did not join the strike, however Richardson and others say that was out of fear.

The two sides will continue their talks in a couple of weeks.
