FAIRFIELD-

Two officer-involved shootings happened in a Fairfield neighborhood Thursday – across the street from each other and under an hour apart.

Earlier Tuesday, a federal task force found a man wanted for attempted homicide behind the Walmart on North Texas Street. Those officers opened fire on the man after he allegedly revealed a handgun.

“Nowadays, the way things are, the police department don’t take any chances. In the blink of an eye, your life can be taken,” neighbor Robert Jones said.

Across the street, a second person was taken into custody after Fairfield Police opened fire.

“I saw this black car that was surrounded by police and they were pulling the suspects out of that car,” neighbor Richard Mead said. Mead lives in the Bennington Apartments complex, where the second shooting happened.

Mead said four or five people were in the car, including two children.

No officers were injured in either shooting.
