WOODLAND-

Former West Sacramento Police Officer Sergio Alvarez was sentenced to 205 years behind bars after being convicted of 18 counts of rape, kidnapping and other sexually-related crimes.

The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office had asked that Alvarez be sentenced to life.

Alvarez was accused of forcing women along West Capitol Avenue to have sex with him while he was in uniform, sometimes even in his patrol car.

“I’m just appalled and sickened that someone who is put in a position of trust would violate that trust,” then West Sacramento Police Chief Dan Drummond said on Feb. 26, 2013, after Alvarez was indicted.

Alvarez was said to have six victims. Five of those victims testified during the trial, and two have filed a suit against the police department.
