ORLAND-
The NTSB is heading to Orland, about 90 minutes north of Sacramento on I-5, to help in the investigation into a horrific crash that has now killed ten people.

Thursday night, a FedEx semi truck crashed into a bus carrying high school students as they headed to a campus visit at Humboldt State University.

Initial reports show the FedEx truck crossed the grass median, however at this time there is no indication why.
Friday morning, the latest information is that ten people are dead, including five students, three adult chaperones, and both the bus and truck driver. About 30 more people are being treated for injuries at various hospitals in the Redding, Oroville, and Glenn County area.

Humboldt State University is providing counseling and other support to students on the other two charter buses that arrived on campus Thursday night. University President Rollin Richmond and other staff is visiting with injured students and their parents.

A so-called “go-team” from the National Transportation Safety Board is on their way to Northern California now. They are expected to arrive in Orland around Noon.
