Conan O’Brien didn’t take anything seriously when he hosted the 2014 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, and his recap of the big night on Monday’s episode of TBS’ Conan was just as spectacular.
“I almost wasn’t ready for the show. I made it, but it was really close,” revealed the talk show host, who had landed cameos from 50 stars — from Russell Crowe and Demi Moore to Anthony Hopkins and Martin Scorsese — for the awards the night before.

The camera then flipped to Conan’s dressing room, showing him sticking an American Hustle-style hairpiece on his head, paying meticulous attention to detail — clipping it in some parts and taping it in others — and finally resorting to orange patches of fur to cover up bald spots.
“I told you I’m fine,” he screeched at an assistant asking if he was ready yet. “I’ll be out in a minute, don’t come in!” he added before plunging his head into a microwave to achieve his ultimate crowning glory.

Later on the show, O’Brien welcomed guest Mindy Kaling, who revealed that her secret to surviving dreaded gym sessions is to pretend she’s in training for an exciting action movie.
“I’ll imagine Michael Fassbender was my husband…now I have to go down to Brazil to find who killed him,” she said of her fitness fantasies. “I find that when I tell people this they try it, and it works for them. It gets me going.”
Guest Colin Hanks said that what really got him going on the red carpet at a past award show was having to share the spotlight with George Clooney. “In comes Clooney, and he comes to the front of the lunch line. He was just so tanned. It was like an atom bomb of light went off,” joked the Fargo star in admiration.

Over on CBS, Craig Ferguson welcomed Dominic Monaghan on the Late Late Show. Monaghan said everyone is quizzing him about the missing Malaysia Airlines plane, asking: “Do you think it’s a real Lost-type scenario? I did say I’d go out and have a look for it, but I couldn’t find it…. The ocean is big,” he said.
Brooklyn Decker admitted that she doesn’t take tennis lessons from husband, star player Andy Roddick, because “I will always be the worst tennis player in the house.” Rather than letting her win, “When you’re married to an athlete, that’s not even in their vocabulary. It’s a ‘pick your battle’ type situation, and to be fair — he has tried, and I ended up breaking the racket.”
